<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Center&rsquo;s profile:</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">The Regional Agriculture Machinery Centre (RAMC), is located at Samtenling block under Gelephu sub- district of Sarpang District. It is under Agriculture Machinery Centre, Bondey, Paro. The Centre caters for four District of south central region, namely Zhemgang, Sarpang, Tsirang and Dagana., It is well facilitated with an area of 10 acres of protected compound with adequate fields for trial, training and demonstration of farm Machinery. It has fully furnished office building, workshop for repair and maintenance, store building, machinery shed, four unit staff quarter, a transit camp, security guard house. For the mobility and transportation a utility vehicle and mini truck is provided . For human resource, it has a Manager, with six experienced technical staff a administrative staff, two drivers, three contract trained operators and one security guards cum caretaker totaling of 15 staff strength.</span></p> <h3 style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Overall AMC&#39;s mandate is carried through the following activities under its juricsdiction</span></h3> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">1. Sale and Supply The sale and supply of farm machines is done on the full subsidy for the transportation till the vehicle pliable point. Unlike in the past, Farmers need not produce the recommendation letter from any other authority to buy the machines except for the grant machine. In case of spare parts which needs to be imported from the third country, full advance needs to be deposited after the confirmation of its actual cost.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">2. Installation, and testing of post harvest and farm machines. After the supply of the farm machineries its services for installation and testing is provided on full subsidy as package.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">3. Back up service Usually minor repairing of the farm machines and its periodical maintenance are to be done by the farmers themselves. However, the centre carries out the repair and maintenance work if it is brought to the centre with minimum standard charges. In case if it needs to be done at the site it is dealt case by case and the minimum standard charges is levied.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">4. Promotional activities Demonstration, exhibition field days are organized to create awareness and sensitize among the farmers about the use of farm machines and its available technologies where ever it is necessary and planned.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">6. Training Training on power tillers and tractor are conducted as per the plan.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">7. Farm Machinery Service Unit (FMSC) Minor services such as purchase of spare parts, repair and maintenance can be acquired from these centres. As of now, there are one such unit at Buli under Nangkhor geog aimed to facilitate four upper Kheng. The Chuzagang does not have the infrastructure but it is under operational.</span></p>
RAMC, Khangma
<p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">The Reginonal Agriculture Machinery Centre (RAMC) Khangma maintains adequite facilities to provide farm mechanization services to six eastern Dzongkhag.</span></p> <ul> <li> <h3><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Training: </span></h3> </li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">With decentrilization of the basic training activites, the regional centre are mandated to provide training to farmers, school dropouts, students, and technical training institutes students free of cost with minimal allowances provided by RGoB. Taining on operation, meaitenance of farm machines and farming technologies are provided on a regular basis. Also, the centre provide specilized farm mechanization training on the request basis.</span></p> <ul> <li> <h3><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Demonstration programs:</span></h3> </li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Demonstration of new technology and promotion of farm mechnanization activites are regularly carried out based on the crop production priorities. Other centrally executed activities : The centre also facilitates, development of safe and quality standards, research and developmental activites plan by the AMC Paro. Further, the centres not only support the developmental activites of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests but also other ministries and NGOs activites through colloberative plans to the six eastern dzongkahgs.</span></p>
Agriculture Machinery Training Section
<p><span style="text-align: justify; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em;">The Agriculture Machinery Centre is responsible for the promotion of farm mechanization in the country or in other words promotion of labor saving technology. With the mandate to promote labor saving technology, Agriculture Machinery Training Centre under AMC was established in the year 1986, under then the Department of Agriculture and major external assistance was received from the Government of Japan, primarily as General and KR-II Grants. It was envisaged that AMC would be responsible for the whole operation, maintenance and co-operation of the Farm Mechanization Program and to achieve the activities, such training are provided to enhance the operation and maintenance skill of the machines owners as well as the other stake holder. Thousands of additional jobs need to be created every year in rural area. Rural people migrate to urban areas for employment and better amenities as such opportunities are not adequately available in rural areas. To enhance for further sustainability the training is provided in group to the machines owners, such as AMC technicians, extension officers, private service providers, Key farmer, in-country manufacturer, CNR students and rural agriculture mechanic. The training is aimed at providing enhancing the capacity of the end users for further sustainability.</span></p> <ul> <li> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Training Centre Setup:</h3> </li> </ul> <p style="text-align: justify;">AMTC will function as departmental organization. AMTC management will be guided by the management of AMC, under the department of agriculture. The head of the AMTC will be responsible to the Programme Director of agriculture machinery center, AMC.</p>
Agriculture Machinery Research Section
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Agriculture Machinery Development Centre is one of the technical sections under Agriculture Machinery Centre. It is located in Paro. It is mandated to promote farm mechanization programme in the country through the following activities:</span></p> <ul> <li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Conduct research and develop in country labour saving equipment, machines for agriculture</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Conduct test, modify and promote third country prototype machines ,equipment and technology best suitable to our local conditions</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Support private participation in in-country fabrication of farming equipment /machines through mass fabrication</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Provide training to the fabricators and end users in the fabrication and use of technology</span></li> </ul>
Agriculture Machinery Certification Section
<p style="text-align: justify;">Inspection &amp; Quality Control Centre. For quality assurance of the machines distributed throughout the country the unit &ldquo;Inspection and Quality Control&rdquo; has been set up. The unit presently inspects and carrys out test of all the farm machines that are to be distributed. The unit also attends and facilitate services for the satisfaction of the end users. For the future there is a plan to standardize agriculture machines and tools that are introduced in the country and promote safety aspects.</p>
Monitoring and Evaluation
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Terms and reference for Monitoring and Evaluation</h3> <ul> <li> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Monitoring:</h3> </li> </ul> <p style="text-align: justify;">Leads the design and implementation of a monitoring framework to track delivery against Farm mechanization goals and objectives in Bhutan; including establishing baselines to measure and support the performance of the programme.</p> <ul> <li> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Evaluation:</h3> </li> </ul> <p style="text-align: justify;">Leads the analysis of data collected under the monitoring framework for assessment of progress and areas for improvement, as well as the implementation of summative evaluations.</p> <ul> <li> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Reporting:</h3> </li> </ul> <p style="text-align: justify;">Provides regularly synthesized and updated reports on the status of implementation against Farm mechanization goals and objectives.</p> <ul> <li> <h3 style="text-align: justify;">Delivery:</h3> </li> </ul> <p style="text-align: justify;">Ensure that all the section activities are aligned and delivering towards Farm Mechanization goals and objectives.</p>
