The four years project on “Strengthening Farm Mechanization Project” Phase II under support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) completed successfully on 10th August 2018 with the achievement presentation by the project manager. Dasho Rinzin Dorji Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests graced the last Joint Coordination Committee meeting of project in presence of Mr. Koji Yamada, Chief Representative, JICA, Director, DoA, Ms Chisa Togo, Assistant Director, Tokyo and officials from JICA office, Thimphu, DoA , AMC and FMCL at Agriculture Machinery Centre conference hall, Paro. The project supported the research and development of farming technology, standards and testing of farm machines and the better hiring models for the execution of hiring services in the country.
The Hon’ble Dasho Secretary on behalf of Royal Government of Bhutan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the project officials and JICA for continues support in enhancement of farm mechanization in our country. He also mentioned that Bhutan will keep seeking Japanese support and cooperation in the agriculture sector which the Japanese government has been very supportive.
The Mr. Koji Yamada, Chief Representative, JICA expressed his satisfaction and appreciation on impressive work done by the AMC during the last four years with support of the technical assistance. He also promised that JICA would keep in touch with AMC to discuss on progress of the farm mechanization hereafter too.
The Programme Director who was project manager presented on the achievements of the project activities. He informed that due to the technical support through HRD trainings and in house training and working alongside with many long and short term experts and facilities up-gradation, all the activities had been achieved. He also stressed that now AMC is confident enough to carry forward the activities and may require such support with changing times in future too.
